Events

Let me help capture your next big day.

I've photographed film shoots, rallies, galas, fundraisers, non-profit events, memorials, family celebrations, and more.

I pride myself on capturing a wide variety of shots, while making sure they're edited and back to you quickly. As an extra, I can provide next-day stills ready for social media.

Bikes

Making bikes look good is what I do best.

As a car-free photographer and journalist in San Francisco, I've documented the broader safe streets movement—including the fight for the JFK Promenade—since 2017. Two wheels good, four wheels bad. I'm making a scapbook of the shift back to human-powered transportation.

Funny story: One time on a bike bus shoot, I nearly toppled out of the back of a cargo bike. I lunged for the Perfect Shot, messing with the balance of the long bike frame. Luckily my "bike pilot" had both a good grip on the handlebars and sense of humor.

Portraits

Portraits, head shots, with-your-bike-shots — the works!

Email to schedule a quick 'n easy 30-minute session. I'll get you back at least 10 fully-edited shots, usually within 1-2 days.

Stage

I'm comfortable shooting staged performances, indoors or out.

Contact me to shoot your next musical performance, open mic event, or theater production.

Fun

For everything else that makes life interesting, but doesn't lend well to categorization.

About Emily, your friendly San Francisco bicycle photographer

I come to photography with a background in documentary journalism, business ownership, and design. My formal studies have spanned writing, photography, graphic design, law, film, French, and even a bit of accounting. I bring this mindset of a multi-disciplinary life-long learner to creative output.

I've worked as an events photographer for Walk San Francisco, KidSafe SF, and several other local non-profits. As a journalist, I've written extensively about safe streets advocacy, notably the movement to make JFK Drive car-free. That led me to shoot rallies, protests, bike rides, Slow Streets parties, and even a bike-themed film series called Comedians on Bicycles Getting Bob's. My investigative journalism and photography pieces have been published in The Examiner, The Frisc, Richmond Review, Sunset Beacon, and other local publications.

My two years as editor in chief of City College of San Francisco's magazine Etc garnered several awards—including Best College Magazine, Best Photography, & Best Feature Article.
